Machine Compatibility Guide
Machine Compatibility Guide
Flexipol vacuum pouches are engineered for use with chamber vacuum sealers. Before ordering, use this guide to confirm your machine is compatible and to select the correct micron gauge for your product.
Chamber Sealers vs Edge Sealers: What Is the Difference?
A chamber vacuum sealer places the entire bag inside a sealed chamber, evacuates the air from the whole environment, then heat-seals the pouch. This process works with smooth-film pouches — the type Flexipol manufactures from our own extruded PA/PE film.
Edge sealers (sometimes called suction sealers) draw air out through the bag opening using a nozzle. They require embossed or textured bags with micro-channels that allow air to travel to the seal point. Flexipol pouches use smooth film and are not compatible with this method. If you are using a countertop domestic unit, please refer to the "Not Compatible" section below before ordering.
Compatible Machine Brands
All Flexipol pouches are compatible with chamber vacuum sealers that accept standard PA/PE smooth film. Confirmed compatible brands and series include:
- Multivac — R series and T series thermoformers and chamber machines. The industry benchmark for food processing; all Flexipol gauges perform to specification across the range.
- Henkelman — Polar, Marlin, Lynx, and Falcon series. A widely used brand in UK butchery and food production; all Flexipol pouches are suitable.
- Orved — VMO and Envasadora series. Popular in catering, deli, and artisan food environments; compatible with all Flexipol clear and coloured pouches.
- Turbovac — All models. Compatible with the full Flexipol range.
- Boss Vacuum — UK-manufactured chamber sealers widely found in independent butchers and processors; full compatibility confirmed.
- Henkovac — All standard chamber models compatible with Flexipol PA/PE pouches.
- Supervac — Compatible across the chamber sealer range.
- MiniPack Torre — Including tabletop and floor-standing chamber models; compatible with all Flexipol gauges.
Flexipol pouches are also compatible with most other chamber vacuum sealers that accept standard smooth PA/PE film. If your brand is not listed above, refer to the section below on how to check compatibility.
Not Compatible With
Flexipol pouches are not suitable for the following domestic or edge-seal machines:
- FoodSaver (all models)
- Andrew James vacuum sealers
- Anova precision cooker bag systems (embossed bags required)
- Caso vacuum sealers
- NutriChef sealers
These machines require embossed bags with textured channels to function. Flexipol uses smooth co-extruded film, which will not allow adequate air extraction through an edge-seal mechanism. Using smooth pouches in these machines will result in poor or failed seals.
How to Check Your Machine Is Compatible
Check your machine's manual or product specification for the term "chamber vacuum sealer" or references to smooth PA/PE film. If your documentation specifies embossed bags or textured pouches as a requirement, your machine is an edge sealer and Flexipol pouches will not be suitable.
If you are uncertain, contact the Flexipol sales team directly. We work with buyers across butchery, meat processing, dairy, fish smoking, sous vide catering, and artisan food production, and can advise on compatibility before you commit to an order.
Choosing the Right Micron: 65mu, 90mu, and 130mu
Flexipol clear pouches are available in three gauges. Select based on your product type and storage requirements:
- 65mu — Suitable for everyday use. Boneless cuts of meat, fish fillets, cheese portions, and general chilled food products. A cost-effective option for high-volume packing.
- 90mu — Recommended for bone-in cuts, products with sharp or irregular edges, heavier items, and anything destined for longer-term chilled or frozen storage. Provides additional puncture resistance where standard film may be at risk.
- 130mu — For premium presentation, extra-heavy or dense products, and puncture-prone items such as shellfish or bone-in whole joints. Also used where a more substantial, high-quality pack finish is required.
Coloured pouches — Blue, Gold, and Parchment — are available and follow the same gauge selection principles. Speak to the Flexipol team if you require guidance on colour options for your application.
