Vacuum Pouches for Henkelman Machines: Boxer, Marlin, Polar and More

Henkelman is the chamber machine we see most on UK butchers' counters, and its model numbers do something helpful: they tell you the seal bar length in centimetres. A Boxer 42 has a 420mm bar, a Marlin 52 a 520mm bar, a Polar 2-75 two 750mm bars. That one fact answers most of the "will it fit" questions.

Our pouches on Henkelman machines

Every Henkelman chamber machine takes smooth PA/PE pouches, which is what we make. No adapters, no special film. The only rule is width: the pouch has to be at least 20mm narrower than the seal bar so the whole open end is welded.

Henkelman range Seal bar Widest pouch Sizes people run on it
Jumbo 30 / Lynx 32 300 to 320mm 280 to 300mm 160×250, 200×300, 250×350
Jumbo 35 / Boxer 35 350mm 330mm Above plus 300×400, 320×520
Boxer 42 / Marlin 42 / Lynx 42 420mm 400mm Above plus 400×500, 400×600
Boxer 52 / Marlin 52 / Falcon 52 520mm 500mm Above plus 500×600
Polar 2-50 / 2-75 / 2-95, Falcon 80 500 to 950mm, two bars Up to 530mm from stock Whole range including 530×650, two pouches per cycle

Length is limited by the chamber depth, and a long pouch can be sealed in two passes. The size guide matches pouch to product.

Settings that work

  • 65 micron clear, gold and parchment: the machine's standard seal time, full vacuum. On a Boxer that's typically 1.5 to 2 seconds. Our film sits in the same seal window as any standard PA/PE pouch, so if you've run other smooth pouches, nothing changes.
  • 130 micron: one step more seal time. Check the first pack by pressing it and looking for a continuous, slightly glossy seal line.
  • Soft, sliced or crumbly product: use the vacuum percentage setting to stop at 90 to 95%. Henkelman machines let you set this directly.
  • Liquids: the Liquid Control option, where fitted, stops the cycle when the liquid starts to boil under vacuum. Without it, use a shorter vacuum time and the tilted insert plate.
  • Double seal: if your bar has it, leave it on. It's free insurance for sous vide packs.

Common questions from Henkelman owners

Wrinkled seals. Usually too much seal time or a wet seal area. Wipe the inside of the pouch opening, drop the seal time one notch.

Pouch won't lie flat on the bar. The pouch is too wide or the product is too close to the opening. Leave 40 to 50mm of empty film above the product.

Bag opening slips off the bar during the cycle. Use the bag clips fitted inside the chamber on most Boxer and Marlin models, and don't overfill.

Can I use the same pouch on my Henkelman and a colleague's Multivac? Yes. Smooth PA/PE film is the same across every chamber machine; the Multivac guide covers that range.

What doesn't apply

Henkelman makes chamber machines, so the edge-sealer warning on our other pages isn't about you. If you've got a domestic sealer alongside the Henkelman, our pouches will only work in the Henkelman. The chamber vs edge sealer guide explains why.

Questions we get asked

Which Henkelman setting should I use for 65 micron pouches?

Start at the machine's default seal time for standard bags, usually around 1.5 to 2 seconds on a Boxer, at full vacuum. If the seal looks wrinkled, drop the seal time a notch; if it peels, raise it. Our film seals in the same window as any standard PA/PE pouch.

Do your pouches work on the Henkelman double seal?

Yes. The double seal bar makes two parallel welds, which is a good habit for sous vide and liquids. No change to settings.

What's the widest pouch a Boxer 42 takes?

The bar is 420mm, so keep the pouch at 400mm or narrower. Our 400×500mm and 400×600mm fit; the 430mm and 530mm sizes don't.
